•Round trip travel costs from client's residence to/from Tete, Mozambique, Africa.

•Tips (gratuity) for service/staff (as desired).

•Additional Safari Cruisers/Vehicles if needed at $50 per hour,  $250 per day maximum.

•Medical Air Rescue Service (MARS).

Gajogo Safarilands Official 2019 Birding Safari Pricing

•Birding Safari Rates: $800/person/day ($1,200/couple), with safari cruiser each day (stay in Coutada 9).

•Birding Safari vehicle capacity: 4 clients/vehicle maximum.

*Your All-Inclusive Birding Safari Rate includes all food, alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, full lodging accommodations, laundry, "fold-down" & House Boy Service, PH/Licensed Guide services, usage of a 4-wheel drive safari cruiser with driver, spotter, field & camp assistants, transfers to/from Tete to Camp Nhama Tika, and all miscellaneous taxes and fees.
*Your All-Inclusive Birding Safari Rate does not include round trip airfare or additional costs while enroute to/from Tete, Mozambique to/from your residence, Medical Air Rescue Service (MARS), Tips, or a $250/day fee for use of an extra safari cruiser if needed and approved by the client.

Upon booking your safari, a $500 "Booking Fee" is due to save-the-date and will be credited toward your safari daily rate cost.  Your Safari Contract and invoice for 50% of your total daily rate deposit will be sent to you for signature and payment about 45 days after booking.  The final 50% deposit of your daily rate will be invoiced 6 months prior to your safari.  All payments are due within 30 days of receipt or your safari is subject to cancellation for lack of payment.  No additional payments will be due until the completion of your safari, when any incidentals will be invoiced at your residence.  Safari payments via credit card are invoiced with a 3% surcharge.  Personal checks, Certified checks, Money orders, Bank wires, electronic transfers, and cash are all acceptable forms of payment.  Prices are subject to change without notice.  Payments should be made in US dollars to Gajogo Safarilands, LLC unless otherwise arranged.

Refunds are possible.  Forfeiture of deposits/payments are based on safari commencement date as follows:  Upon Contract signature you lose the Booking Fee.  Between 5 and 2 months you lose 50% of paid deposits.  Inside 2 months you lose 100% of paid deposits.  Your entire safari is subject to cancellation for late payments greater than 30 days.  Any Safari/Excursion operation meeting Force Majeure acts of God, nature or man, (i.e.: war, terrorism, disease breakout, cyclones, earthquakes, etc), that in the opinion of Gajogo Safarilands will prohibit a safe operation, will be cancelled without refund.  Re-booking any cancellation is possible for $500 and is as published, if mutually agreed, and dates are available.  Safaris donated by Gajogo Safarilands, can not be refunded nor re-booked.

TIPPING, ALWAYS A QUESTION...

So how much is the "proper" amount to tip?  Well, there is no right answer, but to save a lot of angst, here's a guideline that you can use (or discard).  In either case it might give you a starting point. 

First, a few of general rules: 1) there is no requirement to tip anybody, and if you do tip, not everybody needs to get tipped the 'same' amount;  2) tip only people who deserve tips (tell your safari operator, who didn't get tipped, so that this problem can be fixed before the next safari);  3) if possible, tip personally (don't give tips to be doled out by management) and take your time...put meaning into your effort;  4) work with your Safari Operator early, so dollars can be exchanged into local currency...the guys really appreciate that, because they have to get to town to exchange, and that's not easy.  So here's the middle of the road gouge for a tip for someone who is doing a very reasonable job:

PH's:  $50/day;  Trackers, Spotters, (with you in the Cruiser and on foot):  $10/day;  Chef:  $8/day;  Waiters, House Boys (laundry, cleaning, etc):  $7/day;  Game Scouts, Assistant Cooks, Receptionist:  $5/day;  and finally, everyone else:  $3/day.  Any Management tipping is strictly optional and generally not accomplished.  And finally, some folks prefer to just tip based on a percentage of Total Trophy fee...say 15%.   Really, it is up to you!

Now a thought about budgeting for all of this.  Here are the numbers on Gajogo's staff:  One each PH, Tracker, Spotter, Chef, Assistant Chef, Waiter, Receptionist, three each House Boys, and lastly 20 Game Scouts, (who do all Gajogo's patrolling for poachers).  Working it all out, assuming you tipped everyone as above, it comes to about $150/day for tipping.  So, there's a number that you can plug into your budget and massage as necessary...it is a lot of money.  Remember, tipping is your tool to reward those who have excelled in making your safari great.
